| For more than 40 years in Greiz, in the east of
Thuringia situated in the scenically delightful Vogtland , polysulphide polymers
have been developed, produced and converted to sealants. With the
changed market situation after the German reunification in 1990 the
production of sealing materials was gradually stopped and the former Chemiewerk
Greiz-Dölau, today Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals
GmbH & Co. KG, increased the capacity for the production of
polysulphide polymers. Jürgen Kausch, since 1972 active in product development and application technology of polysulphide sealing materials, took this opportunity in 1993 and from the former sealing material division he founded an independent company. The production equipment and employees were taken over and thus the existing know-how. On 01.07.1993 PROXAN Dichtstoffe GmbH started their activities. From the start special attention was given to the development of new chemical resistant sealing materials for the building sector, in particular for environmental protection. With several investment measures the production plants were modernized and extended. From 2001 on the re-entrance in the sector of sealants for insulation glass took place by building a new ultra-modern production plant. Therewith PROXAN Dichtstoffe GmbH became the manufacturer with the most extensive product profile of polysulphide sealants and today the quality level of sealants for pavement joints against leakage of fluids in accordance with the German Federal Water Act is substantially directed by them. In December 2006 and in February 2010 respectively the ownership changed and the production of sealants for insulation glass was switched to another location. The technical equipment for the production of polysulphide sealants, the know-how and the highly motivated employees of the Proxan Dichtstoffe GmbH remained unchanged.
